Making landslides calculable! Dear readers, In 2005 natural catastrophes had huge impacts on everyday life all over the world. The catastrophes that dominated the headlines were often the result of extreme precipitation and/ or decreasing soil stability caused by permafrost, which led to mass movements or landslides. The costs for the ensuing damage run into billions of euros worldwide. To make these kinds of risk calculable in the future, experts around the world are working on landslide prediction systems. Naturally, soil moisture is a significant factor in evaluating the stability of a slope. The exact determination of high levels of moisture or saturated conditions is particularly important for a correct assessment of slope stability and must therefore be a significant part of any prediction system. It is here that the outstanding advantages afforded by TRIME®-TDR moisture measurement technology over other measuring systems really come to the fore:
Today, we would like to introduce you to applications relevant to this subject in our project report. Happy reading! Yours faithfully,
